SYDNEY: Orro, one of Australia’s leading end-to-end digital transformation partners, has announced it is the first in Australia to offer Digital Asset Discovery (DAD) as a managed service for operational technology (OT). This new service enables organisations to gain real-time visibility of their critical assets, monitor associated risks, and ensure ongoing compliance with evolving security regulations such as the SOCI Act.

Unlike traditional asset discovery tools that require businesses to manage deployments internally, Orro’s DAD service ensures continuous visibility and risk assessment as part of an integrated cybersecurity framework. This managed approach removes complexity, turning asset discovery from a static exercise into an ongoing security and compliance function.

Daniel Greengarten, CEO, Orro: “Orro’s Digital Asset Discovery service is the first step in a bottom-up approach to OT security, giving our customers the visibility they need to make the best decisions for their business.

“By offering this as a managed service, we remove complexity and provide ongoing insights that drive proactive security and compliance for customers both now and into the future.”

Michael van Rooyen, CTO, Orro: “Most asset discovery solutions in OT environments have been treated as one-off deployments rather than an ongoing security function. The challenge isn’t just identifying assets—it’s ensuring they remain visible, monitored, and protected in real time.

“Our managed approach goes beyond traditional discovery tools by continuously integrating risk intelligence, compliance tracking, and proactive monitoring to help businesses stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.”

Orro’s DAD service is delivered through a portable edge data centre deployed to the customer’s site, which connects wirelessly to Orro’s security operations team. Once deployed, the system:

  • Identifies all OT devices within a customer’s network, including industrial control systems and IoT assets.
  • Continuously monitors asset risk scores, helping businesses respond to emerging threats.
  • Provides compliance-ready reporting aligned with government mandates for critical infrastructure security.

Orro’s DAD service is applicable across a range of industries such as energy, mining and healthcare, where visibility into connected assets is essential for both operational efficiency and security. Orro customers already deploying the solution include:

  • A large-scale solar farm, integrating DAD with Orro’s security operations centre for end-to-end protection of renewable energy infrastructure.
  • A private hospital where Orro is providing specialised clinical asset discovery to secure connected medical devices and ensure compliance with healthcare security regulations.

The new offering is available to Orro customers and partners now.

SYDNEY: Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, has today announced the launch of its Operational Technology (OT) focused division; Orro Critical Infrastructure.

Through this increased capability, Orro can now offer specialist services in the planning, building, and running of highly available and secure industrial OT environments, covering Network, Cyber, Distributed Cloud and private LTE wireless infrastructure.

In an Australia and New Zealand first, this offering will assess and stabilise existing critical infrastructure assets, then work with industry regulators and clients to recommend and transform key elements to ensure operational excellence, as well as enhanced safety outcomes. These services will then be securely connected and operated by Orro’s dedicated OT SOC/NOC practice.

The new services come at a time where the industrial technology landscape is undergoing rapid transformation, where rising cyber threats are exploiting vulnerabilities in internal processes and posing risk to critical infrastructure assets. This shift is driven by industry and government compliance requirements, as well as the imperative to enhance business value through integration of OT and IT data. In this environment, Orro’s new services are vital for businesses looking to strengthen defences and optimise organisational operations.

Daniel Greengarten, CEO at Orro, commented on the launch: “This new service comes as we continue to expand our full-stack production ready offering, driving our vision of delivering Securely Connected Everything for our customers. We’re looking forward to collaborating with Australia’s operational technology community, and to assisting our customers to plan, build, run, and secure their critical infrastructure.

“We have invested in our operational capabilities, establishing a specialist OT team to help us transition and provide complete confidence to our customers which will enable them to focus on the business of their business.”

Orro will launch a new Security Operation Centre (SOC) specifically for OT customers and environments. This IT of OT based SOC will provide real-time protection against potential attacks and ensure that cyber security capabilities meet customer demands across the whole of their business operations, whilst offering insight to maintenance debt, availability, safety, and production outcomes.

Christopher Mahar, Managing Director of Orro Critical Infrastructure said, “We are thrilled to release Orro’s Critical Infrastructure capability to key OT industry sectors. Orro Critical Infrastructure is focused on navigating the nuances of OT production environments, in which the IT elements of OT can be effectively managed using pragmatic best practices from both disciplines, whilst prioritising production, safety, and security outcomes.

“Orro’s experience working in close partnership with customers that manage extensive OT environments highlighted the need for increased critical infrastructure capabilities. Existing Orro customers across a range of sectors, including energy, transport and logistics, healthcare, retail, as well as a variety of state government entities, can all benefit from these expanded capabilities.”

This new service provides businesses with crucial insights into the performance of their technology stack, enabling rapid identification and resolution of network issues.

The Managed Observability service is underpinned by Cisco’s ThousandEyes and Orro’s One Touch Control digital delivery platform, offering customers the ability to integrate data from various systems and third-party tools. This capability allows businesses to access a comprehensive view of their entire IT environment, regardless of network provider, empowering them to monitor, manage, and optimise their technology stack.

This level of visibility ensures a consistent end-user experience, even when dealing with external or vendor networks.

Daniel Greengarten, CEO of Orro, said: “Understanding the operating environment is crucial to effective network management. By integrating leading visibility tools such as Cisco’s ThousandEyes with our own One Touch Control digital delivery platform, we’re empowering our customers to gain deeper insights into their networks and how they interact with others. Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, today announced the launch of its new service capability, Cloud Network Access Control (NAC).

Provided in partnership with Juniper, the new offering simplifies the user authentication experience and seamlessly integrates with infrastructure, providing reliable security and scalability to grow with business needs. This vendor-agnostic approach allows organisations to leverage its current investments while embracing the benefits of cloud-based NAC, ensuring a smooth transition and maximum value.

The new solution takes seamless integration one step further by also providing access to Juniper AI products and the Orro One Touch Control AIOps platform, providing a unified dashboard for streamlined policy management.  Following the next-generation wireless solution launched by Orro and Juniper earlier this year, the new Cloud NAC offering leverages the best of Juniper AI and Orro to deliver the most advanced NAC service on the market.

Daniel Greengarten, CEO at Orro, commented on the launch:

‘’Despite being essential for securing network access, traditional NAC solutions rely on complex, on-premises infrastructure. What we’ve introduced with our Cloud NAC capability, removes the need for physical maintenance or storage, offering a single integrated solution that ensures our customers benefit from better security and a wrap-around service.

“Understanding the challenges of securing a distributed workforce, we are delighted to offer cloud-based network access services to our customers with our long-term partner,  Juniper.’’

Greg Yelas, Area Director AI Driven Enterprise AUNZ at Juniper, added:

“This opportunity represents another significant leap forward in our partnership with Orro. By integrating Mist AI with NAC, Juniper is further expanding the value of the AI-driven enterprise portfolio, while bringing much needed modernisation to a key part of the network.

“Our collaboration with Orro underscores our mutual dedication of pushing the boundaries of technology to constantly meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

While in the past, manual maintenance and on-premises storage would have been necessary to perform network access control, Orro Cloud NAC ensures all network access capabilities are managed in the cloud, simplifying, and streamlining operations. Orro has already deployed the software with existing education customers to manage tasks such as student enrolments and staff access.

Since launching in July 2021, Orro has remained committed in its endeavour to deliver a new generation of secure network and digital infrastructure solutions, tailored to the specific needs of each customer. With operations across fast-growing technology areas, strong partnerships and more than 500 customers, Orro’s technologies deliver greater efficiency, performance, agility and resilience.

SYDNEY – Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, today announced a new next-generation wireless offering in partnership with Juniper Networks. Ideal for businesses looking to refresh aging digital infrastructure, the new offering will leverage the power of Juniper’s Mist AI to track network performance, automatically solve issues and improve the end user experience.

For large scale businesses and educational facilities with large campus networks, ensuring efficient wireless connectivity and ticket resolution is paramount.  With this new offering, customers will be able to quickly assess user experience through the power of Mist AI, identifying weaknesses and offering quick remediation to ensure issues aren’t able to expand.

On the new offering Daniel Greengarten, Chief Executive Officer, Orro said: “We are thrilled to continue our strong partnership with Juniper Networks to deliver new levels of network visibility. What this means is more efficiencies for teams to spend time on their most important tasks. With the intuition of Mist AI technology, customers will experience new levels of visibility over their network management, empowering them to foresee challenges and prepare accordingly.

As a business, we strive to provide our customers with solutions that ensure strong and reliable connectivity. Our ongoing partnership with Juniper and the resulting offering is another step forward in securely connecting everything.”

Greg Yelas, Regional Mist Sales Lead, Juniper Networks ANZ, said: “This opportunity represents a significant leap forward in our partnership with Orro. We are excited to be bringing Juniper’s AI-Native capabilities as part of this new offering to further enable exceptional end-user experiences. Our collaboration with Orro underscores our mutual dedication of pushing the boundaries of technology to constantly meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

The new offering has been designed to integrate with Orro’s One Touch Control (OTC) system, providing a single management view to streamline visibility across the network. Across an 18-month period, Juniper and Orro have worked closely  to develop full integration of the new product into OTC, making it easier for existing customers to implement the new capability on top of current functions.

The new offering also includes deployment of Marvis Minis, an AI-native technology that simulates the network while no-one is on premises, identifying potential problems and to resolve or escalate overnight. When the on-site teams arrive in the morning, Marvis Minis provides an overview of activity on issues that have been resolved and flags when disruptions may occur.

Roll-out of this offering has already commenced, with Orro and Juniper working with a number of large tertiary and secondary educational institutions to improve their network management. This new offering enhances Orro’s current network offering, strengthening capabilities to ensure future expansion and support of new technologies.

First regional expansion continues Orro’s growth strategy to become an integrated full-stack provider

Sydney  – Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, today announced the acquisition of Liquid IT (Liquid), marking the company’s first geographical expansion outside of Australia.

Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Liquid is a leading IT infrastructure company that delivers deeply integrated IT solutions for customers across the country. Since launching in 2015, Liquid has established itself as a  partner to its customers, providing cyber security, managed services, cloud, and connectivity solutions.

With the acquisition, Liquid brings customers in Government, Transport and Public Services industries, strengthening Orro’s expertise and solution offering.

Daniel Greengarten, CEO at Orro, commented on the acquisition:

“As the first international expansion for Orro, we are pleased to welcome Liquid to our family. This acquisition is another milestone in our growth strategy as we work to provide faster, simpler, and more secure managed service solutions – now not only in Australia, but in New Zealand.

The XDR offering to be hosted in Australia, giving Orro sovereign data capabilities and ensuring regulatory compliance

SYDNEY – Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, has bolstered its cybersecurity offering by adding additional capability for small to medium sized businesses, partnering with SentinelOne, an industry leader in automated cybersecurity technology, to introduce an Extended Detection and Response (XDR) service.

The new XDR solution, that is already being consumed by large enterprise, enables small to medium sized businesses (SMBs) to access Orro’s SOC capabilities, including 24/7 monitoring, incident response, and handling of alerts as an alternative to its existing Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services.

SentinelOne provides Orro with a dedicated environment hosted in Australia, with IRAP protected status, meaning that it has control over its customers’ data, while ensuring compliance and alignment with the Australian Government’s cyber security regulations, and addressing key cybersecurity concerns on a national level. The Albanese governments ‘’six shields’’ approach to our national cyber strategy calls for Education, Safe technology, Threat Sharing & Blocking, Protection of Critical Infrastructure, Sovereign Capability & Skills and Coordinated global action. The partnership between SentinelOne and Orro is designed to address these six pillars.

Daniel Greengarten, CEO at Orro, commented: “As we continue to see escalating cyber threats, having a sovereign capability to protect our customers’ organisations is significant. Through our partnership with SentinelOne, our XDR solution responds directly to the needs of small and medium businesses, which are more exposed to cyber risks than ever, while addressing key national cyber security concerns as outlined in the recent ASD Cyber Threat Report.

Cybersecurity is a critical concern for SMBs, as they are often more vulnerable to cyber threats than larger enterprises as a result of fewer resources and smaller budgets. The new Orro XDR service provides SMBs with continuous monitoring of end-user devices to detect and respond to cyber threats such as ransomware and malware. The SentinelOne platform has the ability to consolidate other technologies into a single platform, whilst integrating security events of interest from additional security controls such as firewalls. It also offers unified threat detection for faster investigation, threat hunting and response. With this technology, malicious activity is automatically blocked in real time, ensuring constant and vigilant protection.

Martin led the process to have Technicolour listed on the EURONEXT, during a period in 2022 where most global financial markets were shut. Martin will replace Fabian Kuehn who is leaving Orro to relocate to New Zealand for personal reasons.

Investment in public cloud capability expands customer offering with leading expertise and top accreditations

Sydney, 1 November 2023 Orro, Australia’s leading platform-enabled secure network and digital infrastructure provider, today announced the acquisition of Melbourne-based cloud specialist NW Computing, rounding out its customer offering for the growing business.

NW Computing is one of Australia’s leading managed services providers, with an ethos to help businesses understand and make use of emerging cloud technologies. By designing, implementing, and supporting best-practice public cloud solutions for its clients, NW Computing has established a prominent position in the IT industry.

Founded by Nathan Wright in 2006, the NW Computing team consists of more than 50 employees and services a wide range of customers across Australia and New Zealand. The acquisition of NW Computing will complement Orro’s portfolio, delivering robust public and private cloud services to customers.

As an industry leader in public cloud knowledge and execution, Nathan Wright will take up the role of Chief Technology Officer, Cloud, taking on a key strategic role within the business. For Orro, this acquisition marks a full circle moment, with NW Computing rounding out the company’s current customer offering.

Rodd Cunico, Chief Executive Officer at Orro commented:

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with NW Computing. Under Nathan’s leadership, the business has become an established force in cloud services, and we look forward to his contribution to the Orro business. The acquisition strengthens our versatile offering across cloud, cyber security, networking and unified communications, leveraging Nathan’s experience and his team’s expertise to position Orro as a leader in both public and private cloud solutions.

Joining the robust cyber and network capabilities of Orro, the expansion of cloud contributes to the ongoing growth strategy of the business, following the $150 million funding investment from Macquarie Capital earlier this year.

Nathan Wright, Managing Director at NW Computing commented:

“After knowing and working with much of the Orro team over the years, we are thrilled to be joining this powerhouse team. Understanding the synergies of NW Computing and Orro, I am confident that our customers will only benefit from this acquisition as we explore the impact of our new partnership.”

All NW Computing staff will be retained, joining the Orro team across Australia to deliver cloud expertise and experience to Orro customers.
